The Laal harbour is a little pocket of the more natural coastline sandwiched between tidal defences. Accessing the beach between the defences reveals a quality of the sea that is more friendly and characterful, the way it moves the sand, the stuff it leaves behind after each tide and the sound of the slow wash of the water. This project seeked to improve access to the beach via the introduction of a boardwalk. The boardwalk took on a distinctive form that echoed the ebb and flow of dune movement and tidal fluctuations. The result is a connection between two existing sea defences, and a relationship to the beach and sea.
